Designers, developers, writers, consultants, architects, CAs in independent practice: the freelance economy in India runs on referrals and platform profiles, and both have a ceiling. A website on your own name or studio name is what turns "I know someone" into "here is her site" and what ranks for "freelance UX designer in Hyderabad". The Freelancer template is a one-page site with services, selected work, rates or starting prices, a process section and a contact that respects your time.
It is the template behind the freelancers and consultants solution page. It also works as a personal site for a specialist professional who wants to be found by name.
What's in this template.
Hero with a specific promise
"Brand identity for D2C food brands" beats "creative professional". The headline names the client and the outcome; the button opens WhatsApp or your calendar.
Services with starting rates
Three to five services with "from ₹" prices or day rates. Published starting rates filter enquiries to clients with a matching budget and save you the awkward first call.
Selected work
Six to eight pieces with a one-line outcome each: "redesigned checkout, conversion up 22 percent". Outcomes read better than screenshots alone, especially for consultants whose work is not visual.
Process section
Discovery, proposal, 50 percent advance, delivery, revisions. Stating the process upfront sets expectations and signals that you have done this before.
Testimonials and client logos
Three testimonials with names and companies, plus logos where permitted. Freelancing is a trust sale; this block earns the enquiry.
Contact that respects your time
WhatsApp with a project-brief prompt, a calendar link for discovery calls, and an email for the formal ones. No open-ended "say hello" form.
Footer with tax note
GSTIN if registered (services above the ₹20 lakh threshold need it), UPI ID for advances, city and the note that invoices are GST-compliant.
Built-in conversion features.
WhatsApp with project brief
The button opens a message asking for project type, timeline and budget range. Enquiries arrive qualified, and you reply from the same phone you already use.
UPI advance
UPI ID shown beside your process section for the 50 percent advance, with a link to a payment receipt generator for the client's records.
Google Maps or city only
Freelancers often work remotely; the template can show a city and service area without an address, while still being eligible for a Business Profile.
GST footer and invoicing
GSTIN displayed where applicable, plus links to the GST invoice and quotation generators that clients and their accountants expect.
Click-to-call or calendar
Choose a sticky call button or a calendar link, depending on whether you want unscheduled calls. Most freelancers choose calendar.
Availability strip
A dated strip: "Taking new projects from 1 August" or "Booked till September", which sets expectations before the enquiry.
Customise in plain English.
Edits are typed into the dashboard in plain English. Freelancers typically send these between projects:
Changes also update your Google Business Profile, which freelancers can and should claim with a service-area listing.
₹249 a month, domain included.
The Freelancer template is included in every plan. Starter at ₹249 a month covers the template, a free domain in your own name, hosting, SSL, Google Business setup and SEO. Compare that with a portfolio platform at $12 a month that does not rank in India, or with building on a free subdomain that looks exactly like it costs nothing. See pricing and the domain name guide for choosing between your name and a studio name.
Two businesses, two cities.
Aarav Shah, brand designer, Jubilee Hills
A designer who worked on referrals and Dribbble. The template with starting rates and six case studies with outcomes changed the enquiry mix: fewer "what do you charge?" messages, more D2C founders who had read the rates and wanted a call. The availability strip let him stop apologising for being booked.
Nandini Iyer, management consultant, Adyar
An independent consultant to mid-size manufacturers. Her work is not visual, so the selected-work block uses outcome lines instead of images, the process section explains the two-week diagnostic, and the GST footer with the invoice generator link satisfied client finance teams. The site now ranks for her name and for operations consulting in the city.
Freelancer template questions
Should a freelancer publish rates on the website?
Starting rates or day rates, yes. Exact project prices, no, since they depend on scope. Published starting rates stop you spending an hour on a call with a client whose budget is a fifth of your minimum, and they signal confidence. The template supports "from ₹" per service and a line about how quotes are built.
Should I use my own name or a studio name for the domain?
If you intend to stay solo and be known personally, your name. If you may add collaborators or want to sell the business one day, a studio name. Many freelancers register both and forward one to the other. The domain is free for the first year on every plan and registered in your name either way.
Does the template work for non-visual work such as consulting or writing?
Yes. The selected-work block supports text-first case studies with a problem, approach and outcome, and the hero can carry a short manifesto instead of an image. Writers often link to published pieces; consultants use anonymised client descriptions.
Can I add a booking calendar for discovery calls?
Yes. Paste a Calendly, Cal.com or Google appointment link and the contact block shows a "Book a 20-minute call" button alongside WhatsApp and email. You choose which one is primary.
Do I need GST registration to show invoices on the site?
Only if your turnover crosses the registration threshold for services, currently ₹20 lakh in most states, or if you choose to register voluntarily. The template hides the GSTIN field when blank and the invoice generator supports both GST and non-GST invoices.
Can a freelancer claim a Google Business Profile without an office?
Yes, as a service-area business that hides its address and shows the areas it serves. The template's schema and the Business Profile setup included in every plan are configured for that case. It helps you appear for "freelance skill in city" searches.
