Bakery website template (India)

Bakeries sell three things online: a customised cake for a date, a box of something for today, and the feeling that the shop is worth a visit. This template is built for the order-by-date flow that cake businesses actually run on.

Bakery template
Copper Oven Bakery
Hero + menu + ordering + Instagram feed
Page structure, top to bottom
  1. 01 Hero: signature cake and "Order for a date" button
  2. 02 Cake catalogue by occasion with per-kg prices
  3. 03 Daily counter menu (breads, cookies, savouries)
  4. 04 Custom cake enquiry: WhatsApp with reference photo
  5. 05 Delivery pin codes and lead time
  6. 06 Instagram feed and Google reviews
  7. 07 Footer: FSSAI, GSTIN, UPI QR

A bakery website is not a restaurant website with fewer pages. The buying decision is different: a mother in Indore ordering a unicorn cake for Saturday wants to see flavour options, size and price per kilo, a photo of a similar cake you made last month, and a way to send the design reference and pay an advance. The Bakery template is that sequence in one scrolling page, with WhatsApp as the ordering channel because that is where the reference photo is going to be sent anyway.

Home bakers and single-counter shops use it as much as larger bakeries. If you take orders by date, the layout works. It is also the template behind the bakery solution page, which covers the Google and Instagram side in more depth.

Sections

What's in this template.

Order-for-a-date hero

The hero asks the only question that matters first: when do you need it? The button opens WhatsApp with the date pre-filled, so the first message you receive already has the delivery date in it.

Catalogue by occasion

Birthday, anniversary, baby shower, corporate, festive. Each category lists flavours, sizes in half-kilo steps and the price per kilo. Customers compare by occasion, not by alphabetical cake name.

Daily counter menu

For bakeries with a walk-in counter: a short list of what is baked today with prices. Mark items sold out from your phone and the page updates instantly, which saves the "do you still have the garlic bread?" calls.

Custom cake enquiry

A WhatsApp link with a prompt that asks for date, kilos, flavour and a reference image. Structured enquiries cut the back-and-forth from eight messages to two.

Delivery areas and lead time

List the pin codes or localities you deliver to and the minimum notice (24 hours for standard, 72 for fondant). This single block prevents most refund arguments.

Instagram and reviews

Cake businesses live on Instagram. The feed block pulls your latest posts so the site never looks stale, and Google reviews sit beside it for people who found you through Maps instead.

Compliance footer

FSSAI registration number (required even for home bakers above the basic turnover threshold), GSTIN if registered, and a UPI QR for advance payments.

Conversion

Built-in conversion features.

◆

WhatsApp with reference photo

The enquiry button opens a chat that asks the customer to attach a design reference. You get the photo, date and size in one message instead of three.

◆

UPI advance

Your UPI QR and a copy-able UPI ID sit beside the price list. A 50 percent advance on custom cakes is standard practice; the template makes asking for it feel normal.

◆

Google Maps and pickup slots

For counter pickup, the map shows the shop and the text above it lists pickup hours, so customers do not arrive at 8 am for a cake that is ready at 11.

◆

FSSAI and GST footer

Corporate orders for office parties almost always ask for a GST invoice. The footer shows you are set up for it.

◆

Click-to-call for same-day orders

Same-day orders are urgent and people call. The sticky call button is visible from the first scroll on mobile.

◆

Festival banners

A dated banner slot for Christmas plum cake pre-orders, Diwali hampers or Raksha Bandhan boxes that you schedule once and forget.

Editing

Customise in plain English.

Changes are typed into the dashboard in plain English. The bakery edits we see most often take under a minute:

Add "Belgian chocolate truffle ₹950 per kg" under Birthday cakes
Mark croissants sold out for today
Add Vijay Nagar and Palasia to the delivery areas, remove Rau
Put up a Christmas plum cake pre-order banner from 1 December, ₹650 per 500 g

The catalogue, Google Business Profile and the printable price list change together, so there is no version of your price list that is out of date somewhere.

Pricing

₹249 a month, domain included.

Every Neweb plan includes the Bakery template. Starter is ₹249 a month: template, free domain for year one, hosting, SSL, Google Business setup and SEO. Home bakers on Instagram who have been paying ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 a month for boosted posts often find a site that ranks for "cake shop in locality" costs less and brings repeat customers who no longer need to scroll to find the DM. For a full comparison of what a bakery site costs elsewhere, see the website cost guide and pricing.

In practice

Two businesses, two cities.

Pune

Copper Oven Bakery, Aundh

A counter bakery doing 30 custom cakes a weekend. Before the site, orders came through Instagram DMs with no date discipline. With the template, the WhatsApp enquiry carries the date, kilos and reference photo, the UPI advance confirms the slot, and the daily counter menu stopped the morning phone calls about sourdough availability.

Indore

Meethi Baat, Vijay Nagar

A home baker who started with a ₹249 plan and a phone camera. The catalogue by occasion with per-kilo prices answered the questions every DM used to ask. Six months in, the site ranks for cake delivery queries in her part of the city and corporate orders, which need GST invoices, now come through the footer's "Business orders" link.

FAQ

Bakery template questions

Can home bakers use the bakery template?

Yes, and many do. You do not need a shop address; set the template to delivery and pickup-by-appointment, list your delivery areas, and use WhatsApp as the ordering channel. If you are below the GST threshold, leave the GSTIN field blank and the footer hides it. The FSSAI field stays, because basic FSSAI registration applies to most home food businesses.

How do customers send a cake design reference?

The custom cake button opens WhatsApp with a message that asks them to attach a reference image along with the date and size. Because the chat is already open, the photo arrives in the same thread as the order, which is far easier than email attachments or a form upload that fails on mobile.

Can I take a UPI advance through the website?

The template shows your UPI QR and UPI ID beside the price list and in the order confirmation message. Customers pay from any UPI app and send the screenshot in the same WhatsApp thread. On the Growth plan you can add a Razorpay link for card and net-banking advances as well.

Does the template show which items are sold out?

Yes. Each counter item has a sold-out toggle you can flip from your phone. The item stays visible with a "sold out today" label so customers know you normally stock it, and it resets the next morning.

Will my Instagram posts appear on the site?

The Instagram block shows your latest posts in a grid that links back to your profile. It refreshes automatically, so a site that you have not touched in weeks still shows this week's cakes.

Is the bakery template suitable for a cafe-bakery?

If seating and the coffee menu are a big part of the business, start from the cafe template and add the cake catalogue block, which takes one dashboard instruction. If orders by date are the main business and seating is incidental, start here. Both templates share the same ordering and gallery blocks.
