Restaurant website template (India)

A restaurant site in India has one job: get a hungry person from a Google search to a booked table or a WhatsApp order in two taps. This template is built around that path, not around a hero slideshow.

Restaurant template
Sheesha Restaurant
Menu + reservations + photo gallery
Page structure, top to bottom
  1. 01 Hero with open/closed status and call button
  2. 02 Menu with sections, prices and veg markers
  3. 03 Today's special and weekend offers
  4. 04 Reservations: WhatsApp and one-line form
  5. 05 Photo gallery (phone uploads, auto-compressed)
  6. 06 Google reviews and Maps embed
  7. 07 Footer: GST, FSSAI number, hours, UPI

Most restaurant templates are American: a full-screen photo, a reservations widget that needs a login, a blog nobody updates. Diners in Pune or Lucknow behave differently. They search "biryani near me" at 9 pm, tap the first result, check whether you are open, scan the menu for prices, and either call or message on WhatsApp. The Restaurant template puts those four things above the fold on a phone and keeps everything else below.

It is also the template behind the Neweb restaurant solution, so it already carries Restaurant schema, menu markup and the Google Business Profile sync. You are not starting from a blank theme and bolting on India later.

Sections

What's in this template.

Hero with live status

The first question a diner asks is "are they open now?" The hero shows today's hours, an Open or Closed badge driven by your Google Business hours, and a call button. No slideshow, because slideshows delay the menu by three seconds on a 4G phone.

Menu with veg and non-veg markers

Indian diners filter by veg first and price second. The menu block supports the green and red markers, Jain and vegan tags, portion sizes, and a price per item. Update a price once and it changes on the site, the QR menu and Google Business together.

Specials and offers strip

Weekend thali, Sunday brunch, Navratri menu. A short, dated strip that you edit weekly keeps the page fresh for Google and gives regulars a reason to come back. Expired offers hide themselves automatically.

Reservation and order buttons

Two buttons, always visible on mobile: "Book a table" opens WhatsApp with the party size pre-filled; "Order" links to your own WhatsApp ordering or to Swiggy and Zomato. No login walls, no third-party booking fees.

Gallery from your phone

Food photos sell more than adjectives. Upload from your phone and the template compresses, crops and names each file for search. Ten fresh photos a month is the target; the gallery is built to make that effortless.

Reviews and Maps

Your latest Google reviews pull in automatically with the star rating, and the Maps embed shows the route from where the visitor is standing. Both are strong signals for "near me" rankings.

Compliance footer

FSSAI licence number, GSTIN, trade name and registered address, exactly where an inspector or a corporate client would look. Required for most restaurants and good for trust everywhere.

Conversion

Built-in conversion features.

◆

WhatsApp table booking

A wa.me deep link with "Hi, table for __ on __ at __" pre-typed. Bookings arrive as structured messages your floor manager can confirm in seconds.

◆

UPI advance for large parties

Embed your UPI QR for a ₹500 advance on groups of six or more. Cuts the Sunday no-show rate that empties reserved tables at 1 pm.

◆

Google Maps pin

The embedded map uses the same pin as your Business Profile, so directions never point to the wrong lane behind the building.

◆

GST and FSSAI footer

Both numbers displayed with your legal name. Corporate clients booking a team dinner will check for them before paying by bank transfer.

◆

Click-to-call

A sticky phone button on mobile that dials directly. For many Tier-2 cities, the call still beats the form.

◆

Zomato and Swiggy deep links

Buttons that open your listing inside the delivery app rather than a browser tab, so the order completes instead of dying at a login screen.

Editing

Customise in plain English.

You edit the site by typing what you want, in English or Hindi, from the Neweb dashboard. No theme files, no page builder with forty panels. Typical restaurant edits take under a minute each:

Add "Dal Makhani ₹320" to the Mains section, mark it veg
Change Sunday hours to 12 pm to 11 pm and show "Sunday brunch 12 to 4" in the specials strip
Replace the hero photo with the butter chicken shot I uploaded yesterday
Add a Diwali party booking page with a ₹1,000 advance via UPI

Each change updates the website, the QR menu and your Google Business Profile at the same time. If you ever want a developer to go further, the site is standard WordPress underneath.

Pricing

₹249 a month, domain included.

The Restaurant template is included in every Neweb plan. The Starter plan is ₹249 per month and covers the template, a free .in or .com domain for the first year, LiteSpeed hosting, SSL, Google Business Profile setup and weekly SEO tuning. There is no charge per menu item, per photo or per booking. A freelancer in most Indian cities quotes ₹25,000 to ₹60,000 for a comparable restaurant site plus ₹3,000 to ₹6,000 a year for hosting and the domain, and you still maintain the menu yourself. See the full breakdown on the pricing page or compare with the website cost in India guide.

In practice

Two businesses, two cities.

Pune

Sheesha Restaurant, Viman Nagar

A 60-cover Mughlai restaurant near the IT parks. Weekday lunch comes from office groups who book on WhatsApp; weekend dinner comes from "restaurants near Phoenix Mall" searches. The template's hero shows the lunch thali price, the booking button pre-fills party size, and the UPI advance stopped the Saturday no-shows within a month.

Lucknow

Tunday Corner, Aminabad

A 40-year-old kebab shop with a loyal walk-in base and no website. The owner's son set up the template in one evening: menu in Hindi and English, Zomato button for delivery, phone photos in the gallery. Within six weeks the Google Business Profile, now synced with the site, was showing the menu and prices directly in Maps.

FAQ

Restaurant template questions

Does the restaurant template include an online ordering system?

It includes WhatsApp ordering out of the box, which is how most independent restaurants in India take direct orders, plus buttons that deep-link to your Swiggy and Zomato listings. If you want a full cart with online payment, the Growth plan adds a Razorpay or UPI checkout on the menu page. Most single-outlet restaurants find WhatsApp plus UPI advance covers 90 percent of orders without the commission.

Can I show the menu in Hindi or a regional language?

Yes. The template publishes the menu in up to 14 languages with one click, and each language version gets its own indexed page. A restaurant in Ahmedabad typically runs Gujarati and English; one in Coimbatore runs Tamil and English. Dish names stay as you wrote them; descriptions and section headings are translated.

Do I need a photographer for the gallery?

No. The gallery is built for phone photos. Shoot in daylight near a window, upload from the dashboard, and the template compresses each image to under 150 KB, crops it to the gallery ratio and writes an alt text from the dish name. Professional photos help, but ten honest phone shots updated monthly outrank three studio shots from 2022.

Will the website show my FSSAI number?

Yes, the footer has fields for FSSAI licence number, GSTIN and legal entity name. Displaying the FSSAI number is a requirement for food businesses on menus and invoices, and showing it on the website avoids questions from corporate clients and delivery aggregators.

How does the template handle table reservations?

Two ways. A WhatsApp button that opens a pre-filled message with date, time and party size, and a one-line form that emails you and sends the diner a confirmation. Both are free. If you use a reservation platform already, its booking link can replace either button.

Is the restaurant template different from the cafe template?

They share the menu and gallery blocks but differ in emphasis. The restaurant template leads with reservations, specials and a full sectioned menu. The cafe template leads with ambience, working-hours Wi-Fi details, a shorter menu and Instagram. Pick by how your customers decide: by dish and occasion, choose restaurant; by place and mood, choose cafe.
