A clinic website is a handshake before the first appointment

Patients are anxious by default. The first time a parent looks for a paediatrician for their unwell child, the first time someone looks for a dentist after a tooth ache, the first time anyone looks for a clinic in a new city — the search is loaded with quiet stress. The website that loads in under a second, shows a smiling photo of the doctor, lists credentials honestly, and gives a one-tap path to book is the website that wins that visit. Neweb ships clinic templates designed around this single emotional reality: reduce anxiety, build trust, make the next step obvious.

The technical baseline matters because patients are often on slow connections at home or in transit. Page weight is kept under 800 KB. Photos are compressed. Web fonts are subset. The homepage is structured so the doctor names, the contact phone, the address, the hours, and the appointment booking are all above the fold. Hospital-style design tropes (oversized navigation, busy headlines, stock photos of stethoscopes) are deliberately avoided in favour of restraint.

Doctor profiles do the heavy lifting

For multi-doctor practices, each doctor needs a dedicated page with credentials, specialties, languages spoken, years of experience, hospital affiliations, and a sample of patient reviews. The page is what shows up when someone searches the doctor name. Neweb generates these pages from a structured CSV import, complete with schema.org Physician markup so Google can show the doctor in rich results. The page also doubles as the doctor own marketing surface that they can share with referring doctors and patients.

The language field deserves attention. In a tier-2 Indian city, having "speaks Hindi, Marathi, English" on a doctor profile lifts conversion against the same profile without the language field. Patients pick the doctor who can speak comfortably with their elderly parents, with their children, with their own discomfort. Neweb makes this a first-class field, not a footnote.

Bookings, reminders, teleconsults

The booking flow is the conversion event for a clinic website. Most clinic websites in India today route bookings through Practo, which charges a commission and intermediates the patient relationship. Neweb supports both: an embedded direct booking widget that owns the patient relationship (no commission, all data stays with the clinic) and a Practo or Zocdoc integration for clinics that already use those platforms. The choice is per-clinic.

Direct booking lets the clinic capture name, phone, reason for visit, and preferred slot. The team confirms via SMS or WhatsApp. Automated reminders fire 24 hours and 2 hours before the appointment, reducing no-show rates by typically 30 to 40 percent. For teleconsults, Neweb integrates with Jitsi, Zoom, or Google Meet and emails the patient the join link an hour before the slot.

Compliance is not optional

India Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP) makes patient data handling a legal obligation, not a best practice. Neweb sites for clinics ship with DPDP-aware defaults: SSL everywhere, encrypted form submissions, no third-party analytics by default, no Facebook pixel by default, and a privacy policy that explicitly covers health data. Patient consent for data processing is collected at the booking form. Right to access, correction, and deletion are supported through the clinic dashboard with an audit log.

For clinics serving international patients (medical tourism, NRI patients, expatriate communities), HIPAA-friendly defaults are also available. These include encrypted data at rest, signed business associate agreements where applicable, and the option to host on a US or EU data centre instead of India. The default for India-only clinics stays Indian data residency, which is also the regulatory direction the DPDP framework is heading.

Reviews, photos, and the quiet compounding

Reviews and photos on Google Business compound for clinics in a way they do not for any other vertical. A clinic with 200 recent reviews from local patients ranks above clinics with 10 older reviews, even when the latter has better doctors. Neweb runs a built-in review campaign system: after every confirmed visit, a SMS goes out with a one-tap Google review link. Replies to reviews (positive and negative) are templated, with the clinic team approving before they go live. Over twelve months, the review velocity adds up. A new clinic that opens with the Neweb playbook typically has 80 to 120 fresh reviews by the end of year one.

Photo posting works the same way. Doctors and staff upload phone photos of the clinic, the lab, the team, the equipment. Neweb compresses and posts to Google Business with weekly cadence. Patients searching for the clinic see fresh, real, recent photos rather than stock or outdated images. Trust signals add up.

Multilingual matters more in healthcare than anywhere else

A patient in distress switches to their first language. A Hindi-speaking parent looking for a paediatrician at 11 pm searches in Hindi. A Marathi-speaking grandfather looking for a cardiologist asks his children to search in Marathi. A Tamil-speaking expat in Bengaluru searches for "dentist who speaks Tamil". Neweb publishes clinic websites in 14 Indian and international languages. Each language version indexes separately in Google with the right hreflang attribute, so a Hindi search returns the Hindi page, not the English homepage. The conversion lift on properly translated pages is typically 30 to 60 percent in tier-2 cities. For multi-clinic chains, this is a quietly enormous untapped market.

Referral routing and the doctor-network compounder

A meaningful share of patient visits in India come through doctor referrals, not Google search. A GP in Pune refers a patient to a specialist in the same city. A paediatrician refers a child to a paediatric dentist. These referral relationships compound over years. Neweb sites support doctor referral codes (a unique URL parameter or QR per referring doctor) that route the patient to the booking widget while attributing the source. The clinic team sees in the dashboard which doctors are referring how many patients, which speciality is gaining traction, and where the relationships need investment. Most clinics manage this on paper today and lose the data within months.
