Neweb / Solutions / Chartered accountants

CA firm websites — from compliant, and findable.

A chartered accountant firm website that follows the ICAI website guidelines, lists partners and services without soliciting, and still ranks for "CA near me" and "GST filing city". Built by Neweb for ₹249 a month.

◆

Within ICAI guidelines by default

Firm name, partners with membership numbers, qualifications, services and contact, presented on a pull basis. No client names, no fee tables, no pop-ups or paid listings, which is what the Council guidelines ask for.

◆

Services explained, not sold

Audit, tax, GST, company law, advisory, each described in plain terms with who it is for. Informational pages that rank without reading as advertisements.

◆

Season pages that bring work

ITR filing, GST return, TDS, tax audit and ROC deadline pages that answer the question searched in that month, with a contact at the end.

◆

Contact that respects the rules

WhatsApp, email, phone and office Maps. Enquiries come to you because the client searched, which is the pull model the Institute expects.

What the ICAI allows a CA firm to put on a website

Chartered accountants are bound by the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 and the ICAI Code of Ethics, which prohibit solicitation and advertising. The Council has issued guidelines that explicitly permit a firm website, with conditions. The spirit is a "pull" model: the website may exist and be found by someone who looks for it, but it must not push itself at people. Within that, the guidelines allow the firm name and address, partners' names, membership numbers and qualifications, the services the firm renders, contact details, and basic information about the firm. They disallow, among other things, naming clients or displaying client logos, mentioning fees, using the ICAI logo, paid online listings that amount to advertising, pop-up or banner advertisements, and content that is promotional in tone. The guidelines have been revised over time, so read the current text on the ICAI site before launch and keep a copy with your firm records.

Neweb builds CA firm websites inside those lines by default. The template has no testimonials block, no client logos block, no fee tables and no pricing page. Service pages are written as explanations. The contact section is prominent but passive: it is there for the visitor who arrived by searching. If a future revision of the guidelines permits more, the blocks are there to turn on; if it tightens, nothing on the site needs ripping out.

Partners, qualifications and the firm page

A client choosing a CA wants to know who will actually handle their work. The partners page lists each partner and, if you wish, qualified staff: name, ICAI membership number, qualifications (FCA, ACA, DISA, additional degrees), year of qualification, areas of practice and languages. The firm page states the year of establishment, the firm registration number, offices and the kind of clients you serve described generically (manufacturing SMEs, startups, professionals, trusts), without naming any. This is both permitted and persuasive, because it tells a prospective client whether your firm has done their kind of work.

Neweb presents this with the restraint the profession expects: no stock photos of handshakes, no "trusted by 500 clients" counters, a clean layout with the firm name, a short description and the partners. Peer review status and empanelments (bank audit, CAG) can be mentioned factually where the Institute permits. Photos of partners are allowed; keep them professional.

We wanted a site that would not make the Institute uncomfortable and would still bring in the SME client who searched for tax audit. Neweb understood both halves.

Service pages written as explanations

The distinction between information and advertisement is tone and claim. "We offer GST registration and return filing for businesses in Surat; GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B are due monthly or quarterly depending on turnover; composition scheme is available below ₹1.5 crore" is information. "Best GST consultant in Surat, lowest fees, guaranteed refund" is advertising. Neweb's service page template takes the first approach for each practice area: statutory and tax audit, income tax return filing and representation, GST registration and compliance, TDS compliance, company and LLP incorporation and ROC filings, bookkeeping and payroll, project reports and bank finance, and advisory. Each page explains what the service is, who needs it, the deadlines and documents involved, and ends with a contact line.

Written this way, the pages do what a CA website is actually for: they let a client in your city who searches "tax audit limit" or "LLP annual filing due date" find a clear answer and a firm that evidently knows the subject. The firm is not pushing; the client is pulling. That is the model the guidelines describe.

Season pages: the calendar is your content plan

The CA year has a rhythm that search follows precisely. July brings "ITR filing last date" and "which ITR form"; September brings tax audit; October and November bring ROC annual filings; every month brings GST returns; March brings advance tax and investment proofs; the Union Budget brings everything at once. Neweb builds a season page for each, written as a factual explainer with the current dates, who it applies to, what documents are needed and common mistakes, and a contact at the end. These pages are updated once a year from the dashboard and rank in their month because they answer the question as asked.

Pair the season pages with the free tools Neweb publishes, such as the income tax, TDS, HRA and GST calculators, which you can link from your service pages. They give visitors something useful without any claim about your firm, which is exactly the tone the guidelines want. The newsletter included in the plan can carry a monthly compliance calendar to clients who have opted in, which is permitted communication with existing clients and is appreciated.

Being found: local SEO on a pull basis

The guidelines prohibit advertising, not being discoverable. A CA firm may be listed on Google, may have a Google Business Profile with its address and hours, and may rank in organic search for queries about its services. What it should not do is buy paid listings or ads that solicit. Neweb claims and verifies the firm's Business Profile, keeps it consistent with the site, adds AccountingService schema, and structures the site so that service and season pages rank organically for "chartered accountant in locality", "GST filing city" and the deadline queries. No paid placement is involved.

Reviews on Google are a grey area the profession is still working through. Firms generally do not solicit reviews, and the template does not include a review request flow by default. Reviews that clients leave on their own will show on the Business Profile regardless, and responding to them courteously is reasonable. If the Institute issues clearer guidance, follow it; Neweb can turn the flow on or off per firm.

Practical details: office, hours, documents and data

The least discussed part of a CA website is the most used: the office page with the Maps pin, floor and landmark, parking, hours, and the document list for common engagements. A "what to bring for ITR filing" checklist and a "documents for GST registration" list save your staff a hundred emails a year and are plainly informational. A secure document upload is available on the Growth plan for firms that want clients to send files through the site rather than WhatsApp; on Starter, WhatsApp and email remain the channels.

Data handling deserves a sentence on the site. Clients send PAN, Aadhaar, bank statements and financials. A short privacy note stating how documents are stored and who accesses them, with a privacy policy page generated for a professional services firm, is both good practice and increasingly expected. Neweb includes the policy generator and SSL on every site, and does not store client documents on the website itself.

FAQ

Chartered accountants questions

Are chartered accountants allowed to have a website in India?

Yes. The ICAI Council guidelines permit a firm website on a pull basis, with conditions: it may carry the firm name, partners with membership numbers and qualifications, services, and contact details, and must not solicit, name clients, mention fees, use the ICAI logo, or run pop-ups, banners or paid listings that amount to advertising. Neweb builds the site within those limits by default. Read the current guideline text on the ICAI site before launch.

Can a CA website mention fees or client names?

No, under the guidelines as commonly read. The template has no fee table or client logo block. Services are described generically and the kinds of clients served are described by sector, not by name. If the Institute revises the guidelines, Neweb can enable the relevant blocks.

How does a CA firm get found on Google without advertising?

Through organic search and a Google Business Profile, which are permitted. Neweb claims and syncs the profile, adds AccountingService schema, and builds service and season pages that answer the questions clients search, such as ITR deadlines, tax audit applicability and GST return due dates. The firm does not push; the client searches and finds it.

How much does a CA firm website cost on Neweb?

₹249 a month on the Starter plan, including the website, a free domain for the first year, hosting, SSL, Google Business Profile setup, season page templates, a privacy policy for professional services and SEO. Firms with several offices use the Growth plan at ₹1,299 a month for per-office pages and the secure document upload.

Can the site include a client document upload?

On the Growth plan, yes, with SSL and access limited to your firm. On Starter, clients send documents by email or WhatsApp. The site itself never stores client financials; the upload hands files to your chosen storage.

Should the website collect Google reviews?

Most firms do not solicit reviews, given the profession's stance on solicitation, and the template leaves the review request flow off by default. Reviews clients leave on their own will appear on the Business Profile; responding courteously is reasonable. Follow any specific ICAI guidance on the subject.

Can I publish articles and compliance updates?

Yes. Factual articles on tax and company law changes, written as explanations rather than promotions, are permitted and are the best content a CA site can carry. Neweb includes a simple article editor and a newsletter for sending a monthly compliance calendar to opted-in clients.
