School & preschool websites — from admissions to disclosure.

A school or preschool website that handles admissions enquiries, publishes the mandatory public disclosure that CBSE affiliation bye-laws require, and gives parents the fee structure, curriculum and timings they search for. Built by Neweb for ₹249 a month.

Two kinds of school website, one set of parents

A CBSE or state board school with a thousand students and a neighbourhood preschool with forty children need different websites, but the parent searching for both is the same person at different stages. The preschool parent searches "play school near me", "daycare with CCTV locality", "preschool fees city" and decides on safety, ratio and routine. The school parent searches "CBSE schools in locality", "school name fee structure", "admission 2027 class 1" and decides on board, fees, results, transport and the campus visit. Neweb sets up the right structure during onboarding: a preschool preset built around trust and routine, and a school preset built around admissions, disclosure and information for current parents.

Both share a principle: publish the answers. The schools that make parents call for fees lose the parent who is comparing five schools on a phone at 10 pm. The preschools that do not state their teacher-child ratio lose to the one that does. A school website is a public document, and the regulator agrees.

CBSE mandatory public disclosure: the page the bye-laws require

Schools affiliated to CBSE are required, under the Affiliation Bye-Laws, 2018 and subsequent circulars, to maintain a website and to publish a mandatory public disclosure covering general information (affiliation number, school code, address, principal, contact), documents (affiliation letter, society or trust registration, NOC, recognition certificate, building safety, fire safety, water and sanitation, DEO certificate), results and academics (fee structure, annual academic calendar, school management committee, PTA, last three years' board results), and staff and infrastructure (teacher counts, qualifications, campus area, classrooms, labs, library, internet, playground). The exact list is in the Board's circulars and is updated from time to time; check the current circular before publishing.

Neweb's school preset ships a disclosure page structured to that list, with upload slots for each document, a last-updated date, and a reminder each April to review it. The page is linked from the footer of every page as the bye-laws expect. ICSE and state board schools have their own, lighter disclosure expectations, and RTE requires government-recognised private schools to admit 25 percent of entry-level seats from economically weaker sections, which many states ask schools to publish; the same page handles those notices.

The disclosure page used to be a scramble every inspection. Now it is a page with a last-updated date and the documents already uploaded.

Admissions: the enquiry, the visit and the calendar

Admissions is the reason most schools build a website, and it is seasonal: pre-primary and Class 1 enquiries in October to January in most cities, with a second wave for other classes in March and April. The admissions page states the classes with seats, the age criteria (which vary by state and have changed with the National Education Policy's 6-plus rule for Class 1), the documents required, the process and dates, and the fee structure. The call to action is a campus visit, and the WhatsApp button opens a message with the child's age, class sought, locality and preferred visit day pre-filled, so the admissions office replies with a slot rather than a questionnaire.

For preschools, the flow is faster and the trial day is the product: a WhatsApp enquiry with the child's age and preferred programme (playgroup, nursery, daycare hours), a visit, a free trial morning. The site shows the daily routine, the ratio, the meals, nap and pickup policy, and photos of the actual rooms and play area. These are the details that decide a preschool, and the preset puts them above the fold.

Fees, transport, timings and the information current parents need

Publishing the fee structure by class, with what it includes and the payment schedule, is both expected by parents and required by CBSE disclosure. Neweb presents it as a clean table with a last-updated date. Transport is the next most searched item: routes, stops, timings and the transport fee, which the template presents by route with a map. School hours by section, the academic calendar with holidays, the uniform and book list, and the exam schedule are what current parents visit the site for all year, and a site that serves them well is one the school community actually uses.

Fee payment itself usually runs through the school's ERP or a bank gateway. The site links to that and shows UPI details for small payments such as activity fees. The newsletter included in the plan handles circulars to parents who opted in, which many schools find more reliable than the diary.

Safety, staff and the preschool trust signals

Preschools and daycares are chosen on trust, and parents have become specific. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights issued guidelines for preschools covering ratio, space, safety, staff verification and curriculum, and some states have begun registering preschools. Whether or not registration applies in your state, publishing the teacher-child ratio, the police verification and training of staff, CCTV and access control, the pickup authorisation policy, first aid and medical tie-ups, and hygiene and meal arrangements answers the questions every visiting parent asks and sets you apart from the preschool that does not. Neweb's preschool preset has a safety and care page built around those points.

Schools present staff differently: teacher counts and qualifications (which the disclosure requires), the principal's profile, and a page for each department or section. Student results by year, with board averages and toppers where consent exists, belong on the academics page and are among the most visited pages during admissions season.

Local SEO for schools: the locality and the board

School searches combine a board, a locality and a class: "CBSE school in Wakad admission", "ICSE schools near Whitefield", "play school in Gomti Nagar". Neweb builds the site to rank for those combinations with School and Preschool schema, locality mentions on the admissions and transport pages, and a Google Business Profile claimed, verified and synced with the site, with photos of the campus updated each term. Reviews from parents matter and accumulate; a request after the admission process and after the annual day is reasonable and effective.

Multi-branch school groups get a page and profile per campus with shared academics and a group home page. Preschool chains work the same way, with per-centre pages for the "near me" searches that drive their admissions. Both are on the Growth plan, with the Starter plan covering single-campus schools and preschools.

FAQ

Schools questions

Is a website mandatory for a CBSE school?

CBSE's Affiliation Bye-Laws and circulars require affiliated schools to maintain a website and publish a mandatory public disclosure covering affiliation details, key documents, fee structure, academic calendar, results, staff and infrastructure. Neweb's school preset includes a disclosure page built to that list with document uploads and an annual review reminder. Check the Board's current circular for the exact items.

Should a school publish its fee structure online?

Yes. Parents compare on phones and skip schools that hide fees, and CBSE disclosure requires it anyway. Publish the structure by class with inclusions, the payment schedule and a last-updated date. Preschools should publish programme fees and daycare rates the same way.

How do admissions enquiries work on the site?

A WhatsApp button on every page opens a message with the child's age, class sought, locality and preferred visit day pre-filled. The admissions office replies with a campus visit slot. A form alternative emails the office. For preschools, the enquiry leads to a free trial morning.

How much does a school website cost on Neweb?

₹249 a month on the Starter plan for a single campus or preschool, including the website, a free domain for the first year, hosting, SSL, Google Business Profile setup, the disclosure page, the newsletter for circulars and SEO. School groups and preschool chains use the Growth plan at ₹1,299 a month for per-campus pages and profiles.

What should a preschool website show to build trust?

Teacher-child ratio, staff verification and training, CCTV and access control, pickup authorisation policy, first aid and medical tie-ups, meals, nap and hygiene routines, and photos of the actual rooms and play areas. The NCPCR preschool guidelines cover many of these points, and some states now register preschools. The preschool preset has a safety and care page built around them.

Can parents pay fees through the website?

The site links to your school ERP or bank payment gateway for term fees and shows UPI details for small payments like activity fees. Neweb does not replace the fee management system; it makes the payment path easy to find.

Can the site send circulars to parents?

Yes. The newsletter included in every plan sends circulars, holiday notices and event reminders to parents who opted in, and the notice strip on the site shows the current announcement. Many schools find this more reliable than the diary.
