Free Local SEO Audit Tool.

Check your local SEO score in 30 seconds. Enter your business name and city — we surface what's missing: Google Business Profile, citations, NAP consistency, reviews, and more.

This is a guided checklist audit — no real crawl or API call is made. Use it as a structured starting point to identify and fix your biggest local SEO gaps.

How to use this audit

  1. Enter your business name exactly as it appears on Google. This helps the checklist generate search queries you can run yourself to verify each item. Use the name you would type into Google Maps to find your own listing.

  2. Enter your city. Local SEO is hyper-local — a business in Ahmedabad competes differently from one in Mumbai. The city helps us tailor the checklist items to what matters in your market.

  3. Select your business category. Different categories have different citation sources. A restaurant benefits from Zomato and Swiggy listings; a coaching centre from Sulekha and UrbanPro. The category shapes which platforms appear in your checklist.

  4. Enter your website URL if you have one. This tells the audit whether the website check should flag as a pass or a high-priority action item. If you do not have a website, leave it blank.

  5. Click Run audit. Go through each of the 12 items in order. For each warning or failure, open the linked platform in a new tab and take the action described. Most items take under 10 minutes each to address.

What each check means

Local SEO has a clear hierarchy of importance. The checks in this audit are ordered roughly by impact — the items near the top matter more than the items near the bottom, though all 12 contribute to your overall ranking signal.

Google Business Profile is the foundation of local SEO. Your GBP listing is what appears in Google Maps and in the map pack — the three businesses that show up above organic results when someone searches for a local service. Without a verified GBP listing, you are invisible in local search. Creating and verifying one is free and takes about a week (Google mails a postcard with a PIN to your business address).

NAP consistency — Name, Address, Phone — is Google's way of cross-checking that the information across the internet about your business is reliable. When your phone number is listed differently on JustDial versus your website versus your GBP, Google's confidence in your listing drops and your ranking suffers. Fixing NAP inconsistencies is tedious but high-impact and does not cost anything.

Google reviews are both a ranking signal and a conversion signal. Google uses review count and average rating as direct inputs into local ranking algorithms. More importantly, a customer choosing between two similar businesses will almost always pick the one with more and better reviews. Ask for reviews proactively — the best time is immediately after a successful interaction, while the experience is fresh.

Local citations — listings on JustDial, IndiaMart, Sulekha, and other Indian directories — are supporting signals. Each consistent citation reinforces that your business is legitimate and located where you say it is. For most Indian small businesses, there are dozens of free citation opportunities that have not been claimed.

Fix your local SEO fast — 5 quick wins

  • Claim and fully complete your Google Business Profile today. Add all categories, your full address, website, phone, hours, and a description with your city and category keywords. A 100% complete GBP outranks an incomplete one in every study ever run on local search.
  • Add at least 10 photos to your GBP listing. This is the single easiest change most businesses can make. Google's own data shows that listings with 10+ photos get 42% more direction requests and 35% more website clicks than those with fewer. Take photos on your phone right now.
  • Ask your last 5 customers for a Google review today. Send them a direct link to your GBP review page over WhatsApp — the easier you make it, the higher the conversion. A simple "We'd love a review if you had a good experience — here's the link" message works.
  • Search your business name on JustDial and claim your listing if it exists. Many Indian businesses have unclaimed JustDial profiles with incorrect information. Claim it, update the NAP to match your GBP exactly, and add photos.
  • Add your city and primary category as a keyword phrase in your GBP description. "Best bakery in Ahmedabad" and "Ahmedabad's most popular bakery" are the kind of phrases customers type. Getting them into your description reinforces your relevance signal for those searches.

Frequently asked questions

What is a local SEO audit?

A local SEO audit is a systematic check of all the factors that influence whether your business shows up in Google's local search results — the map pack, Google Business Profile listings, and location-based organic results. It covers your Google Business Profile completeness, NAP (Name, Address, Phone) consistency across directories, online reviews, local citations, and website technical factors. For Indian small businesses, the most impactful factors are typically GBP completeness and Google reviews.

Why does local SEO matter for Indian small businesses?

More than 80% of Indian smartphone users search Google for local businesses before visiting or calling. If your business does not appear in the local map pack for your category and city, you are invisible to these potential customers. Local SEO is the highest-ROI marketing investment for most Indian small businesses because it targets customers who are actively searching for exactly what you offer, in your city, at that moment.

What is a Google Business Profile and why do I need one?

Google Business Profile (GBP), formerly Google My Business, is your free listing on Google Maps and Google Search. When someone searches for "restaurant near me" or "dentist in Ahmedabad", the map pack results that appear are GBP listings. A complete, verified GBP listing is the single most impactful thing a local business can do for local SEO. It is free to create and verify, and it directly affects how often you appear in local search results.

What is NAP consistency and why does it matter?

NAP stands for Name, Address, and Phone number. NAP consistency means your business name, address, and phone number are written identically across every platform where your business appears — your Google Business Profile, your website, JustDial, IndiaMart, Sulekha, and any other directories. When Google finds conflicting information (different phone numbers, abbreviated vs. full address), it loses confidence in your listing and ranks you lower. Even small differences like "St." vs "Street" or "+91" vs "0" before a number can create inconsistency signals.

How many Google reviews do I need to rank locally in India?

There is no magic number, but businesses with fewer than 10 reviews are at a significant disadvantage in most Indian cities. For competitive categories like restaurants, clinics, and salons in large cities, 30+ reviews with an average of 4.2 or above is a more realistic threshold. The recency of reviews also matters — 5 reviews in the last 30 days signal more activity than 50 reviews from two years ago. The most effective strategy is to ask every satisfied customer directly after a good interaction.

How long does it take to see results from local SEO improvements?

Some improvements show results within days — completing your GBP profile, adding photos, and correcting NAP inconsistencies can move you up in rankings within one to two weeks. Building reviews takes longer — typically four to eight weeks of consistent effort to accumulate meaningful social proof. Website speed improvements and schema markup can affect rankings within a few weeks of Google's next crawl. Overall, most businesses see a meaningful improvement in local visibility within 60 to 90 days of implementing the core fixes.
